Wearable Sensing
Wearable Sensing is a growing San-Diego based company focused on the development of applications of dry electrode EEG sensor technology. Their first products are wearable mobile EEG headsets that are renowned for their excellent signal quality and usability. These easy-to-use and comfortable headsets are opening the door to innovative applications in commercial domains including neuroergonomics, augmented cognition, Brain-Computer Interface (BCI), neuromarketing, peak-performance training, and more. Their office environment is friendly and relaxed, but that is thanks to their team’s highly self- motivated and perfectionist work ethic.
The intern will be involved in all aspects of design, prototyping and manufacturing of new headsets and related products, for a range of BCI applications. This internship presents the opportunity to work on a wide range of tasks, from designing parts, developing new manufacturing methodologies, assembling devices, exploring outsourcing capabilities, writing efficient assembly protocols, and implementing rigorous Quality Assurance procedures.
Possible activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Participate in product development, including prototype iterative design and failure analysis
- Refine designs for manufacturability and cost reduction and transfer to high-volume production
- Design and assembly of hardware for wearable systems
- Convert design release engineering documentation to manufacturing documentation
- Typical unit test, system test, field test and other support activities
Skills and requirements: The successful candidate will have strengths in following areas:
- Solid manufacturing or mechanical engineering base of knowledge / Experience/proficiency with SolidWorks / Strong understanding of basic material properties, stress and strain, and dynamic force analysis / Knowledge of various manufacturing process from plastic molding to machine shop tooling / Technical experience including reading manufacturing procedures, assembling devices, soldering
- Responsible, self-driven individual who is meticulous and dedicated to professional excellence, and motivated to seek new creative solutions to cutting-edge projects
- Flexible team-player with good communication skills who is capable of independent work with a sense of urgency to resolve issues and complete project goals on time.
- Ambitious worker who seeks excellence in workmanship, strives for professional growth through continued learning opportunities and hands-on experiences.
- Fluency in English, excellent communication and demonstrated technical writing skills
